Team England

SportCheer England currently has responsibility for the following aspects of Team England:

• Advertise, interview, and appoint managers for each team

• Provide team managers with resources outlining expectations including (but not limited to) coaches’ qualifications, insurance, safeguarding, branding guidelines, Risk Assessments, music licensing, anti-doping and TUE forms, team selection, disciplinary procedures, venue and sponsorship contracts etc

• Check DBS and qualifications of all coaches appointed by the management

• Provide support or guidance when requested and possible

The team managers’ application process requires applicants to submit a proposal and undertake an interview with SportCheer England. It currently remains the responsibility of each manager appointed by SportCheer England to then appoint their own coaching staff and undertake their team selections. All positions, management, coaches, administrational staff are voluntary and self-funding.

Team England teams hold tryouts at the beginning of every cheerleading season between August and October and then have a limited number of training sessions throughout the year in order to prepare for the World Championships in the following April. While they might showcase at events in the lead up to April, in order to gain performance practice, each year’s team consists solely for the purpose of competing at the World Championships event.

All athletes are voluntary and self-funding.
